Twenty-seven-year-old Dante Capone is the winner of the 16th annual Santa Rosa Marathon. Capone, who grew up in Sebastopol, finished Sunday’s race with a time of two hours, 24 minutes and 18 seconds. He also won Saturday’s Five-K. Twenty-two-year-old Amber Elias won the women’s marathon in two hours, 59 minutes and 41 seconds. She also has local roots, having ran cross country at Vintage High School in Napa. Close to six-thousand runners took part in this year’s marathon and related events. About 400 people competed on Saturday and Sunday, which is known as the double barrel challenge.
