Santa Rosa City Council Exploring Amending Their Attendance Policy

The Santa Rosa City Council is considering relaxing its attendance policy for members to avoid losing their seats due to absences. Currently, members can be removed from office if they miss all regular meetings for 30 consecutive days without permission. The council recently had to take steps to excuse the absences of three members who would have been removed otherwise. Council member Chris Rogers has proposed amending the policy to allow for more flexibility, especially in cases of emergencies or other unplanned absences. The city attorney is working on an update that is expected to be presented to the council in late October.
