California could soon pass a law that would require consent for the use of AI to replicate dead performers. The state Senate passed the bill in an usual Saturday session, and now it heads to Governor Gavin Newsom’s desk. SAG-AFTRA says the law would help the estates of dead performers maintain some control over AI-created fakes and replicas in films, TV shows, video games, and more.
