The North Bay is in for a big warmup this week. Temperatures away from the coast are expected to be in the mid to high 90s between today and Friday. The National Weather Service is calling for a high of 96 degrees in Santa Rosa today. That’s up about 15 degrees from Monday. Tomorrow is expected to be the hottest day of the week, with highs nearing triple digits.
Be careful going outside today. A Spare the Air alert has been issued for the Bay Area through tomorrow. Temperatures combined that with light winds and vehicle exhaust, and the result is a layer of smog. That pollution could make it harder for some to breathe. Officials urge anyone with outdoor plans to avoid activity during the hottest part of the day.
