Sonoma County is seeing an increase in Homelessness. The final point in time count for 2024 shows an overall increase of the county’s homelessness by 11-percent from 2023. Over 5,550 people were counted as homeless in 2024. The upside is that it is still significantly down from the over 9,000 counted in 2020.
Other highlights of the report shows that there was an increase in the number of homeless veterans, people who are chronically homeless, and people who have been homeless for over a year. A couple of positive notes, though, show the number of families experiencing homelessness declined as well as people of color.
