California lawmakers have approved two bills designed to protect wildlife. The first bill, also known as the Room to Roam Act, requires cities to think about how their development plans might affect wildlife. The second bill, called the Poison-Free Wildlife Act, puts limits on certain types of rat poison to help safeguard animals. This includes making it harder to buy these poisons and reducing their use in places where wildlife live. The bills are waiting for Governor Gavin Newsom’s signature.
