Newsom Signs Bill Banning Addictive Feeds to Kids on Social Media

The state is protecting children from becoming addicted to social media. Governor Newsom signed that bill, saying it stops features designed to feed destructive habits. Online platforms can’t provide addictive feeds without parental consent beginning in 2027. The law also bans notifications without permission between midnight and 6 a.m., and 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. on weekdays from September through May, when kids are typically in school.
