Governor Newsom Signs Bill Requiring Insurance to Cover Fertility Treatments

California is making it possible for more people to start a family without going broke. Governor Newsom signed a bill yesterday that requires insurance companies cover fertility treatments, including IVF. He says this is a “proud reproductive freedom state” expanding access as Republicans continue try and block it. The law begins in 2026. Until then, the cost of in vitro fertilization here is reported to average 24-thousand dollars out of pocket.
