A plan to stop California gas prices from spiking is clearing another hurdle. A special Senate committee passed Governor Newsom’s proposal yesterday and today the Appropriations Committee will meet to discuss it, with a floor vote set for Friday. Newsom wants refineries to keep a certain amount of fuel on hand to avoid a supply shortage if they go down for maintenance or an outage. He says this will save families money at the pump.
