Police are on the hunt for a man who tried to steal two planes from Charles M. Schulz-Sonoma County Airport. The incident happened on Sunday morning, after the man ran into a hangar. Police say he tried to open the door of a private plane while a mechanic was working on it. The mechanic yelled at him then chased him off. The suspect then went into another hangar in the southwest part of the airport and climbed aboard a second plane. He managed to turn the ignition and several lights on, before the mechanic chased him out of that plane as well. He then ran north off airport property and into the nearby woods. Airport officials believe the suspect got in through an area where vegetation had been cleared to build a new fence.
