Congressman Jared Huffman says farmworkers should be allowed to join secret talks that could end dairy and cattle ranching inside Point Reyes National Seashore. The Press Democrat reports that he has supported a legal motion from farmworkers to legally intervene in closed-door mediation involving the National Park Service, seashore ranchers and three environmental groups. The environmental groups want the dairies and cattle ranches in the park and neighboring Golden Gate National Recreation Area to close down over contamination claims. They are also challenging the park’s proposed general management plan, including how it regulates the wild tule elk population.
