A Sonoma resident was seriously injured after being struck by a hit-and-run driver in downtown Sonoma on Sunday afternoon. The 82-year-old woman was crossing the street in a crosswalk when she was hit by a car turning onto Fifth Street West. The driver, identified as José Pizano Tosacano, fled the scene but was later arrested by police. The victim, Karen Sanders, was taken to the hospital in critical condition but has since been pulled out of intensive care. Police are urging witnesses to come forward with any information they may have about the incident.
