The two candidates looking to replace Chris Rogers as Santa Rosa’s District Five Councilmember are making their final pitches to voters this week. The race pits Jeremy Newton, a military veteran and commercial airline pilot, against Caroline Banuelos, a trustee on the Santa Rosa Junior College Board and longtime community leader. Combined, the two candidates have raised about 38-thousand-dollars in campaign contributions. More than 60 percent of that total belongs to Newton. According to the latest figures, Newton was recently beating Banuelos in campaign contributions by a margin of about three to one.
