The average price of a gallon of regular gas in Sonoma County continues to slowly fall. Today, the average is $4.82, which is down two cents from Thursday. A week ago, it was $4.88 and a month ago it was $5.07. A year ago today, it was much higher, at $5.38 per gallon. The California average is $4.57 and the national average is $3.13. Sonoma County currently has the most expensive gas in the North Bay.
Meanwhile, California drivers are only days away from knowing if gas prices will soar. The state Air Resources Board will make a decision about Low Carbon Fuel Standard one week from today, but some lawmakers say no one knows the actual impact. They were told last year gas prices would jump 47-cents, that’s why they sent a letter asking to delay the vote. The board’s executive officer now says he doesn’t think it’ll cost any more to fill up.
