An embezzlement case may have something to do with the sudden closure of a popular Italian restaurant in Healdsburg. Molti Amici closed last weekend, despite being the newest restaurant in the North Bay to win a Michelin California Bib Gourmand Award. On Monday, the Healdsburg Police Department announced its investigation into an alleged 60-thousand-dollar embezzlement involving the restaurant remains open. But, in July, two of the restaurant’s owners told the Press Democrat the embezzlement issue had been resolved. A statement says Molti Amici closed due to losing money, but the owners haven’t offered further details.
