Sonoma County’s Measure J has failed by a huge margin. As of early this morning, more than 85 percent of voters in Sonoma County have voted no on Measure J, which would have ended large scale dairy and poultry operations. Such dairy and poultry farms are also known as factory farms or concentrated animal feeding operations. Sonoma County’s agricultural leaders strongly opposed the measure, while animal rights activists supported it. The factory farming ban, if it had passed, would have been the first of its kind in the nation.
