Governor Newsom’s latest budget comes without a shortfall.
The 322-billion-dollar budget proposed by the governor Monday is being welcomed by lawmakers as the first budget in three years without significant shortfalls. However, the budget is only a placeholder as Newsom awaits to see if President-elect Trump will follow through with comments about withholding federal money from California once he takes office.
About a third of California’s budget relies on funding from the federal government. If Trump pulls funding, California lawmakers will have to start cutting the current proposal.
