A Yountville-area winery faces potential closure and millions in fines after a court ruled it violated Napa County regulations.
According to the county, Hoopes Vineyard has been operating beyond the scope of its permits, and the county is seeking over $8 million in penalties and an injunction to halt wine tastings and tours.
The winery argues that many of its activities were longstanding practices and that the county’s actions are excessive.
