California Health Officials Concerned About The Spread Of Norovirus

The California Public Health Department is reporting higher levels of norovirus in wastewater, indicating the virus may be spreading.

Norovirus is typically referred to as the stomach flu. The wastewater data comes from a Stanford research group that studies diseases through wastewater. Despite the recent uptick, California’s norovirus caseload is lower than last year’s.

From January to November, the state recorded 55 confirmed outbreaks, compared to 73 during the same period last year.
