A landmark settlement has been reached in the long-running legal battle over ranching in Point Reyes National Seashore.
Under the agreement, most of the ranches within the park will be phased out over the next 15 months. The settlement includes compensation for ranchers and support for displaced farmworkers.
The park service will now focus on restoring the natural environment and collaborating with the Federated Indians of Graton Rancheria on cultural and natural resource management.
