Santa Rosa City Schools & Classified Staff Union Resume Negotiations

Negotiations have resumed between the Santa Rosa City Schools district and its classified staff union after a lengthy impasse.

Classified staff, including janitors, cafeteria workers, and other essential personnel, are seeking a significant raise, arguing that their current wages are insufficient to live in Sonoma County.

Key sticking points in the negotiations include the amount of the raise, sick leave benefits, and a “me too” clause that would guarantee future raises in line with other district employees.

The union emphasizes the financial hardship faced by many classified staff members, while the district cites budget constraints due to school closures. Both sides express hope for a swift resolution to the negotiations.
