Students at Maria Carrillo High School are taking a stand against proposed school closures in their district.
At a recent town hall meeting, students presented their own plan to address the district’s budget deficit, focusing on cutting administrative costs and reducing overspending rather than closing schools.
The students’ proposal quickly gained traction, receiving the majority of votes from attendees. While the district acknowledges the need for budget cuts, they emphasize the complexity of the issue and the importance of a comprehensive restructuring plan.
The superintendent has committed to considering the students’ proposal alongside other options.
