1 Dead Following Monday Night Crash Near Sonoma State

A driver is dead and their passenger is injured after a crash just outside the edge of the Sonoma State University campus.

The single-car crash, which happened late Monday night, left a Chevrolet Corvette split in half after it hit a tree. The California Highway Patrol says the driver was traveling at an excessively high speed before losing control of the car.

The driver, only identified as a male, died at the scene. His female passenger is hospitalized with moderate injuries.
