Congressman Jared Huffman announced that the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation has awarded $15 million to the Round Valley Indian Tribes and the Sonoma County Water Agency.
This funding will support the Two-Basin Solution, a plan to divert water from the Eel River to the Russian River while restoring salmon habitat. The funds will be used for an Eel River estuary project and to help construct a new wintertime diversion.
The project aims to balance water needs for both regions while restoring the Eel River ecosystem.
