Cotati City Council member Kay Rivers is resigning.
Rivers abruptly resigned on Tuesday, before a budget planning meeting. In her resignation letter, Rivers cited “personal and professional reasons.” Rivers was one of the few openly gay elected leaders in Sonoma County.
The council will discuss options for picking Rivers’ replacement at its next meeting, which is this coming Tuesday.
