Another type of public performance connected with Santa Rosa High School is facing backlash from the Santa Rosa City Schools district.
District officials are concerned about the content in three upcoming student monologues, which will be publicly performed next month at the Lenaea High School Theater Festival. The monologues will be used in college portfolios and applications and include one written by a student himself.
Santa Rosa High School’s new principal, Monica Fong, a district office transplant, is asking that the monologues first be approved by the parents of the students.
This comes two months after district officials cancelled a Santa Rosa High School theater performance due to what they called “inappropriate messaging.”
