As Many As 7 Schools May Close At End Of Current School Year

The committee recommending which of the two-dozen Santa Rosa City Schools campuses should close later this year met again on Monday night.

The School Consolidation Advisory Committee was expected to finalize the rankings that will guide its closure recommendations. The 20-member group consisting of parents, district staff and community members ranked elementary, middle and high schools based on 25 different criteria.

Albert Biella Elementary School, Steele Lane Elementary School and Brook Hill Elementary School are among the most likely to close, along with Santa Rosa Middle School, Herbert Slater Middle School, Hilliard Comstock Middle School and Rincon Valley Middle School.

The rankings are also partially based on input from community members and internal discussions.
