Santa Rosa City Council To Discuss $14.6 Million In Proposed Budget Cuts Today

The Santa Rosa City Council is expected to discuss a proposed $14.6 million in budget cuts today.

The council could decide to eliminate some vacant positions and city programs. The proposed elimination of 19 unfilled positions is expected to free up $4 million from the current budget. Four of those positions are in the fire department and one is in the police department.

The Santa Rosa City Council has been warned of the budget deficit surpassing $36 million in four years if nothing is done about it now. The proposed budget cuts would take effect immediately, if passed.
