A Santa Rosa burger landmark has closed its doors, but a new flavor is coming to Rincon Valley. Phyllis’ Giant Burger on Highway 12 at Middle Rincon Road has closed after nearly 20 years.
The location is quickly transforming into Yutaka Japanese Grill. New owner Sam Im is already working on revamping the space, known for its retro diner feel. Yutaka will offer teriyaki plates and bowls, along with a selection of rolls featuring cooked seafood and vegetables—no raw fish.
Im hopes to open soon, pending county inspections next week. He confirmed the quick transition is thanks to a family connection with the previous owner. And for those still craving a Phyllis’ Giant Burger, their other Santa Rosa location on Piner Road remains open, along with their San Rafael restaurant.
