Bay Area drivers are paying more for gas thanks in part to the recent fire at an East Bay refinery.
According to the Gas Buddy website, gas prices went up roughly four cents a gallon between Sunday and Monday in the South Bay, East Bay and San Francisco metro area. Part of that increase is being blamed on the explosion and fire at the Martinez Refining Company this past weekend.
Officials say the Martinez refinery accounts for ten percent of the refining capacity in California.
