BREAKING: A Home Fell Into The Russian River After A Landslide In Forestville

A home fell into the Russian River on Tuesday afternoon after a landslide in Forestville, prompting authorities to evacuate nearby residents. CHECK IT OUT HERE:

Sonoma County fire officials reported that the home, which sat about 50 feet above the river along a hillside opposite the Hacienda Bridge, slid into the river around 12:30 p.m. Press Democrat staff at the scene noted the bridge, part of River Road, helps traffic cross the water. The home is now floating downstream, and debris from the structure has filled the water, being carried westward toward the Pacific Ocean. Fortunately, the house was unoccupied at the time of the landslide, and no injuries were reported.

Back on land, all that remained intact of the property was its garage, which connected to a driveway on Westside Road. As a precautionary measure, authorities have evacuated nearby homes due to concerns about the stability of the hillside. The sheriff’s office emphasized that their priority is to ensure the safety of residents and allow emergency crews to assess and manage the situation effectively.

Westside Road has been closed, and fire officials are urging the public to avoid the area to allow emergency personnel to perform their duties without hindrance. Additionally, authorities are warning that the storm is not yet over, with water levels in the Russian River continuing to rise
