St. Helena Unified School District Welcomes New Superintendent

Jodi McClay, the former superintendent of Temecula Valley Unified, has found a new beginning in St. Helena. After a controversial removal from her previous post amid political turmoil, McClay is now leading the much smaller, but well-funded, St. Helena Unified School District.

McClay, a veteran educator with over 30 years of experience, is focusing on four key priorities: improving facilities, collaborating with other districts, strengthening math instruction, and supporting principals.

Despite strong academic performance, McClay sees gaps in math instruction and is working to improve it. She also believes St. Helena’s resources should benefit surrounding communities and is focused on strengthening school leadership.

She says the ultimate test of her success in St. Helena would be if her own grandchildren chose to attend the district’s schools.
