The Sonoma County Library system has launched “More Than a Month,” an initiative to celebrate the county’s diverse communities and cultures year-round.
This program expands on traditional heritage month observances like Black History Month and Pride Month, ensuring representation and programming throughout the entire year. While the library is maintaining its established heritage month events, like the BIPOC book club during Black History Month, it’s also adding more diverse programming throughout the year.
Library leadership emphasized their commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion regardless of the national political climate, highlighting their dedication to serving all members of the community. They also clarified their policies regarding information requests from law enforcement, ensuring the library remains a safe space for everyone.
