A proposed new hotel and conference center in downtown Santa Rosa is facing a challenge.
Developer Roy Nee has submitted plans for a project at the former Third Street Cinema site and the adjacent, vacant Bank of America building. However, the bank property owner says they are not involved in the project and have not agreed to sell. While Nee states he has made offers on the property, the owner says those offers have been declined. Despite this, Nee is moving forward with his vision, hoping to gain support and attract potential partners. The project, which includes a large ballroom, exhibition hall, and a 151-room hotel, was recently pulled from the Design Review Board agenda due to the ownership dispute.
Nee says he’s met with city officials who have expressed interest in the project, which could bring significant meeting space and activity to the downtown core.
