A pair of distinctive cement sculptures by acclaimed Petaluma artist Mary McChesney have been stolen from a west side home.
Homeowner Carin Jacobs, former director of the Petaluma Arts Center, discovered the theft Tuesday morning. The 18-inch tall sculptures, gifts from a friend, were taken from her fenced front yard. Jacobs is appealing to the local arts community, hoping someone might recognize the unique pieces if the thief attempts to sell them.
While the sculptures’ monetary value may not be high, they hold significant sentimental value for Jacobs. She has filed a police report and is actively spreading the word, though she fears their return is unlikely.
