Permit Sonoma has announced they’ve resumed issuing non-emergency well permits.
This comes after a Sonoma County Superior Court judge temporarily lifted a previous order that halted the process. Back in December, the county was told to stop issuing permits due to a lawsuit brought by environmental groups. However, earlier this month, the judge granted a temporary stay, allowing permits to be issued again under the contested amended ordinance. Permit Sonoma Director Tennis Wick stated they welcome the decision and will continue to use data-driven decision-making.
While the county’s request for a new trial was denied, this temporary stay remains in effect until February 21st, unless the court grants an extension.
