State lawmakers representing the North Bay will be holding a series of meetings discussing the major budget and program cuts recently announced by Sonoma State University.
The first meeting is scheduled for February 21st. In a press release, lawmakers say their goal is “holding the California State University System accountable.” The statement also says the legislators are “committed to strengthening SSU and disappointed in the university’s inadequate consultation, transparency, and vision.”
SSU is planning to layoff dozens of staff members, close six departments, end 23 major degree programs and eliminate its intercollegiate athletic programs.
