The drama surrounding the now-shuttered Michelin-honored Healdsburg restaurant, Molti Amici, continues. Owner Jason Cutrer and his companies are suing former co-owner Jonny Barr for more than $1.5 million.
The lawsuit, filed in Sonoma County, alleges fraud, embezzlement, and even claims Barr personally consumed over $250,000 worth of the restaurant’s wine, including a rare bottle valued at over $23,000.
Despite receiving a Bib Gourmand award, Molti Amici abruptly closed last November, with Cutrer citing financial difficulties. Barr argues that restaurants often struggle financially in their early years, and calls the $1.5 million lawsuit “absurd.”
The case is set for a status hearing in June.
