North Bay residents, prepare for a soaking. A powerful atmospheric river is about to unleash its fury on the region, bringing heavy rain, strong winds, and the threat of flooding.
Rainfall will intensify, pouring up to an inch and a half per hour in the coastal mountains. Valleys will see less, but still enough to cause street flooding and overwhelmed storm drains. Wind gusts will reach 40 mph along the coast and up to 50 mph in higher elevations.
Rivers are rising, and while the Russian and Napa are not expected to reach flood stage, some smaller creeks are already overflowing. The National Weather Service has issued a Flood Watch for the entire Bay Area, a Flood Advisory for Napa and eastern Sonoma Counties, and a High Wind Warning for coastal areas. Be prepared for road closures, power outages, and rising waters. Stay safe and stay informed.
