Residents of Giovanetti Road Brace For Another Round Of Flooding

Residents of Giovanetti Road near Forestville are bracing for another round of flooding as another atmospheric river arrives. This short, mile-long lane has become a recurring nightmare for its 20-plus homeowners.

A damaged culvert under the road constantly backs up during heavy rains, sending Tilton Creek surging over the pavement, sometimes several feet deep. Residents describe being trapped, mail delivery disrupted for days, and even emergency access threatened. While the county makes frequent visits to patch potholes and clear debris, residents say these are temporary fixes.

They’ve been petitioning for a permanent solution for years, citing the danger posed by the failing infrastructure, especially for elderly residents and those with medical needs. County officials acknowledge the problem and are exploring options, including a potential bridge or a redesigned culvert, but a permanent fix is likely years away.

In the meantime, residents are stocking up on supplies and preparing for yet another period of isolation.
