A proposed luxury “glamping” resort along Napa’s Silverado Trail is sparking controversy.
The Grange Campground, planned by AutoCamp, would feature high-end camping trailers and tents, along with other amenities. Opponents, organized as RAGE, cite wildfire risks, increased traffic, and environmental damage. They’ve gathered over 1,000 signatures on a petition and an attorney has alleged insufficient environmental review and improper rezoning.
AutoCamp says they’ve addressed concerns by modifying bike paths, improving sidewalk access, and limiting traffic turns. They also argue the resort would reduce wildfire risk by clearing vegetation and controlling campfires. While residents are largely opposed, the Napa Chamber of Commerce and local businesses support the project, seeing it as an economic boost.
The Napa City Council will decide on Tuesday whether the project can proceed, a decision that could set a precedent for future developments in the area.
