A group called “Students Against Nazi Extremism” (SANE) has threatened to vandalize Tesla vehicles if owners in Rohnert Park don’t sell or trade them in the coming days.
UPDATE: KSRO confirmed with a law enforcement official that several Tesla owners have received threatening notes left on their vehicles. The messages from a group protesting Elon Musk demand that they trade or sell their cars before Wednesday or face vandalism.
KSRO learned today that a group calling itself SANE — Students Against Nazi Extremism — claimed responsibility for the threats and mailed documents to media outlets, adding that the group planned to target Teslas in three California cities: Hayward, Rohnert Park, and Arcata.
The group also described in the documents that Tesla’s major shareholder, Elon Musk, is “an overt Nazi with a history of fascist, racist, misogynist, and criminal behavior” and threatened to “inflict physical damage to Tesla-branded vehicles.” SANE wrote that its goal is to “create enough shame to make it onerous for anyone to buy or operate a Tesla-branded vehicle.”
Police told KSRO they have opened an investigation into the threats and encourage anyone in the community with information to call the police.
Listen Friday morning to KSRO for updates on this story.
