The Lake County Sheriff’s Office is investigating after human skeletal remains were discovered in the Mendocino National Forest near Lucerne on Wednesday.
Deputies responded to the scene following a report around 1:30 p.m. The Coroner’s Unit, with assistance from the Forest Service, is working to determine the identity of the remains and the circumstances surrounding the death. The remains will be sent to the California Department of Justice for further analysis.
