Man Recovering After Being Rescued From Napa River

A man is recovering after first responders rescued him from the Napa River.

The rescue effort started at about 2:40 Saturday morning, when the man was found some 20 feet down a river embankment. His feet and legs were tangled in brush, and he was holding on to bushes to keep his face and upper body out of the rushing current.

A rescue swimmer swam to the man, put a life vest on him, untangled him from the brush, then took him to an access point about 30 feet downstream.

The man said he dropped his phone near the river and slipped and fell into the water while looking for it. The man says he was stuck in the river for about three hours in total.
