A Santa Rosa woman, a UPS store employee, has been arrested after a theft investigation uncovered stolen donation checks and a cache of illegal weapons.
Police began investigating Jennifer Chenier after $18,000 in donation checks intended for Dogwood Animal Rescue went missing from a rented mailbox. Detectives found the stolen checks during a search of her home.
However, a second search revealed a locked suitcase containing a fully automatic military assault rifle, a silencer, and other illegal firearms. Chenier, who is a narcotics addict and prohibited from owning firearms, now faces additional charges, including possession of an assault rifle and other weapons violations.
Police are also investigating whether Chenier’s notary services were used in other financial crimes and are urging anyone who may have been affected to contact the Santa Rosa Police Department.
