For the past 5 weeks, students at Madrone Elementary in Santa Rosa have been mastering the basics of Muay Thai, thanks to a volunteer program led by Ben Brown of PHAS3 Martial Arts.
Over 250 students, from first to sixth grade, participated in the program, learning focus, respect, and discipline alongside the traditional Thai martial art.
Principal Brooklynn Clark noted a positive impact in the classroom, with students showing improved focus and behavior. Brown, a seasoned martial arts instructor, says the students quickly embraced the lessons, developing self-confidence and a sense of accomplishment.
The program’s success has Principal Clark hoping to bring it back to Madrone next year.
