Napa City Council To Vote On Fuller Park Playable Art Structure

The Napa City Council is facing a big decision today: whether to approve a $2.5 million budget for a unique, leaf-themed playable art structure at Fuller Park. This project, “Leaves on a Line,” would replace the aging playground with an interactive public art installation.

The project, designed by artist Daniel Wodarcyk, features leaf-like structures, ground-level play equipment, and safety surfacing. However, the budget has doubled from its initial $1.28 million due to soil conditions and community-requested enhancements.

The increased cost has sparked debate, with some arguing that public art funds shouldn’t be used for a play structure. Supporters contend it is a piece of public art. Funding will come from various city funds and a state grant.

The council’s decision will determine if Fuller Park transforms into a fusion of public art and interactive play, or if the project is scaled back.
