Lawmakers To Hold Hearing On Rising Electricity Costs

Lawmakers are set to hold a hearing today on rising electricity costs after regulators released a long-delayed report Tuesday.

The reports stem from an October executive order directing state agencies to review programs that could be cut or changed to lower costs. The California Public Utilities Commission recommended shifting program costs, including wildfire prevention, away from ratepayers, citing the Net Energy Metering program as a major cost driver.

The California Energy Commission defended its programs as effective.
