Good news for residents along the Russian River in Sonoma County. The evacuation warning that was in place for over a week following severe flooding and a dramatic landslide has been lifted.
The Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office made the announcement Tuesday morning, removing the warning for low-lying areas from Healdsburg to Jenner.
The initial evacuation order was issued after heavy rains caused a landslide in Forestville, destroying a home and impacting Westside Road. While residents were allowed to return with caution after a few days, the full warning has now been lifted as floodwaters have receded.
However, drivers should be aware that Rio Vista Road remains closed at Westside Road due to the landslide damage. Authorities are urging people to avoid that area.
