Equator Coffee, a Marin County-based roaster known for its sustainable and fair-trade practices, is hoping to open its first Sonoma County location. The Sonoma Planning Commission will consider the permit application tonight.
If approved, the new cafe will be located in the Sonoma Marketplace on West Napa Street, taking over the former Savory Spice Shop space. Equator plans to remodel the interior and offer a menu of coffee, tea, pastries, and light bites. The cafe will offer both indoor and outdoor seating.
Founded in 1995, Equator Coffee has grown from a small operation to a Bay Area favorite, even being named National Small Business of the Year in 2016. The Planning Commission meeting is open to the public and takes place from 6 to 9 p.m. at City Council chambers.
